"Mashu" The Musical

A vibrant theatre production celebrating the history and spirit of KwaMashu township, set between 1994 and 1995 and inspired by real events. Directed by theatre legend Themi Venturas, the show features a seven-piece live band and dynamic choreography blending Maskandi, Mbaqanga, Gospel, and Pop.
Premiering at The Playhouse, Durban, it earned rave reviews and multiple Mercury Durban Theatre Award nominations, including Best Script, Best Choreography, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Lead Actor. A powerful celebration of culture, resilience, and township life, Mashu: The Musical continues to inspire audiences across South Africa.

"Queen Noyiya ka Ziqhelele" Dance Production

Queen Noyiya tells the compelling story of Queen Noyiya kaZiqhelele, the only daughter of King Mthembu, chosen by her ancestors to lead the BaThembu nation. The musical explores her delicate balance between royal duty and personal dreams, following her journey of self-discovery in Johannesburg and her eventual return home to embrace her culture, heritage, and rightful place as queen.

This vibrant production was staged as the exit project for our FET: Certificate in Dance Instruction and FET: Certificate in Music students. It featured dynamic performances showcasing the students’ talent in music, dance, and drama, and was presented for their parents and families at the Stable Theatre in April 2024.

"The Farm Workers" Drama Production

The Farm Workers is a powerful drama that sheds light on the lived experiences of South African farm workers, exploring the harsh realities of racism, poverty, unsafe working conditions, and the ongoing struggle for labour rights. Through compelling storytelling, original music, and dynamic choreography, the production invites audiences to engage with the urgent social issues affecting farm communities.

The play emphasizes dialogue, peaceful conflict resolution, and reconciliation between farm owners, workers, and government, offering not just a reflection of societal challenges but also a vision for understanding and change. Featuring a talented cast of both emerging and professional artists, The Farm Workers was successfully staged at The Playhouse Company in Durban, leaving audiences moved and inspired. A moving and thought provoking performance, The Farm Workers is a must-see for anyone interested in South African social realities, human dignity, and the power of theatre to spark conversation and transformation.
