Our Adopt a Home initiative connects caring individuals and organisations with families in urgent need of safe, dignified living conditions. Together, we transform houses into homes and create lasting change in vulnerable communities.

Our Story

Restoring Dignity, One Family at a Time

The Adopt a Home project was the first initiative launched by MADE, inspired by our team’s desire to give back to the INK communities in which we operate. The project began with support for a family from KwaMashu consisting of ten members, including a physically challenged toddler. The family lived in difficult conditions and relied solely on government grants for survival. Through contributions from MADE staff and donors, we provided the family with monthly groceries and essential household items, helping to improve their quality of life.

Since then, the initiative has expanded into a broader humanitarian effort that supports more families in need. Today, MADE continues to uplift communities through disaster relief and humanitarian aid, fostering resilience, empathy, and dignity where they are needed most.

Building Hope Through Community

One of the families that is supported is the Nxumalo family based in KwaMashu. The Nxumalo family has ten members; two adults and eight children. One of the children is a physically challenged toddler who is unable to walk, and crawls to move around the house but does not have appropriate protective gear for his knees. This family survives with government grant money and the house that they live in is in dire need of renovations.

With funds donated by MADE donors and staff members, we were able to assist the family with groceries on our monthly visits. We are still continuing to raise funds for the family and appeal to the media and the public to assist in helping this family. Anyone can contribute and we call upon community members, schools and churches to collect donations of food, household items and clothes towards helping Adopt A Home family.
